The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has suffered a number of significant blows to it’s reputation. (The Australian,30-31 January,2010,p.7). The IPCC had withdrawn it’s confident endorsement of the proposition that most of the Himalayan glaciers would in all probability melt by 2035,Penny Wong told us all about that recently.
The IPCC has also made alarmist claims that the World had suffered rapidly rising costs due to extreme weather-related events since the 1970′s.
The IPCC now finds insufficient evidence to claim “a statistical relationship between global temperature increase and catastrophic losses”.
The lead author,Robert Muir-Wood says “the idea that catastrophes are rising in cost because of climate change is completely misleading”.
Even the computer models that predicted our doom are now found wanting. They cannot explain the lack of global warming over the past ten years.
So what is left? Only the faith of Penny Wong and Rudd and their desire to impose a tax that will cripple us.
