After World War 2 there was an abhorrence of Nationalism, war and science in Europe and a desire for equality between the classes.
The failure of Russia and Communism to conquer the world, the cold war,has left a hatred of our affluent society that without question caused our socialist parties to engineer the destruction of our civilisation.
It was the policy of British and probably other European governments to allow into Europe large numbers of Muslim,Asian and African migrants under the pretext that we had a shortage of labour. In Britain the influx was designed to destroy the racial unity of Britain.
Another policy designed to destroy the West was to send all our industry to the third world, the Post-industrial society. (1)
Our industrialists also claimed that they needed the cheap labour of China and the third world. The Automatic factory and programmable machines makes even the cheapest labour expensive and redundant and they know that.
Capital will always win against organised labour and the machine against the man.
Increasingly the problem will not be cheap goods for sale but people with jobs and enough money to buy them. Automated factories need few staff to run them and the World is full of people.
Now Sir Martin Sorrell,(2) founder and CEO of WPP,the World No. 2 advertising group after Omnicom, representing trillions of dollars of consumer spending World Wide, announces the death of the consumer society. Our view,he says, which is counter to what you would expect our industry to argue,is that conspicuous consumption is not productive and should be discouraged. He also questioned another fundamental tenet of our society –unconstrained growth.
The elephant that none of these people mention is the third world population explosion!
