Sri Lankan diplomats are going around the West trying to get the Tamil tigers listed as terrorists. Several nations have agreed and now Australia is under pressure to do the same.
On June 11th an ABC radio program (news) gave a spokesperson for the Tamils considerable time to object to the listing saying that the Tamil tigers were fighting for better conditions for the Tamils in Sri Lanka and said the answer was a Tamil homeland.
The Sinhalese were wise to destroy the Tamil insurrection. Like Hitler the territorial demands by the Tamils would not end with one third of Sri Lanks,they would want the lot.
The ABC seems to feel a sympathy for minority groups even those supporting extreme terrorist groups such as the Tamil tigers. Any claim by the spokesperson that the Tamil tigers should not be accepted as a terrorist operation in Australia is baseless. In the U.S. Tiger’s supporters admit guilt over terror and have pleaded guilty to terror charges. (The Australian,11th June 2009 p8) The same could be true of some Tamils in Australia.
From the tone of the spokesperson the tigers will attempt to re-start their insurrection from the Tamil diaspora world-wide. Western countries should make this as difficult as possible. Other wise send the Tamils back to Tamil Nadu just across the waters.
