Some people find history boring,but often it contains information found nowhere else.
In an article “George Bush and History’s Croakers”,by Claudio Veliz,(Quadrant,April,2009.) a brief resume of the history of Croaking,a word invented by the Duke of Wellington to describe the despondent,defeatist,grumbling,moaning,rumour-mongering enmity of too many of Britains intelligensia during the protracted 1808-1814 Peninsular War against Napoleon. The British Whig party,the party of the Croakers,did not want war with Napoleon and included in their ranks,Shelley,Byron,Leigh Hunt,Hazlitt and the aristocratic members of Lady Holland’s Salon,all admired Napoleon’s titanic effort to defend,perfect and extend the exemplary libertarian bequest of the French Revolution. Lady Holland and her friends occasionally “sailed close to outright treachery”.
History repeated itself in 1940 when Lord Halifax,a supporter of Chamberlain,tried to start peace negotiations with Germany,Churchill’s cabinet rejected the attempt.
As late as the 17th of July,1940 on the eve of the Battle of Britain,Richard Austen Butler,a Chamberlainite M.P.,“accidentally”met the Swedish Ambassador Bjorn Prytz in St. James Park and in the conversation that ensued with Prytz and which Prytz immediately described in a telegram to his government and which was intercepted and deciphered,Butler was reported to have asserted that no diehard (Churchill) would be permitted to interfere in the way of a compromise peace with Germany “if one was felt desirable”.
Later Croakers,not only members of the Labor Left (Red Fascists),opposed the wars in Viet Nam,the Cold War and hated President Bush.
They also wanted to destroy the hegemony of the U.S.A. and replace it with their new idol,China. Europe is to be given to Islam and Africa and the threat of Global Warming would be used to force our standard of living down to that of the Third World.
Pope Benedict XV1 summed up our state of mind when he spoke of the West as “a world weary of it’s own culture”,(The Weekend Australian,28.2.09-1.3.09,p.28,Christopher Pearson).
The election of a Black president in the U.S.A. and the Depression have brought a turning point in our civilisation.
The greatest achievement of the political left was the infiltration and take over of the school system and the universities nation-wide. The political left’s greatest failure was their inablility to convince the electorate to prefer communism over capitalism.
Europe and America preferred freedom to state red fascism and Russia collapsed.
However after two savage World Wars,peace,pacifism and societies without industry or science were not hard to sell to the young.
Christianity destroyed itself and the Left has become allied to militant Islam in Europe.
The supporters of Pauline Hanson,the only voice against multiculturalism in Australia,only had a following in the elderly. The young have no comprehension of what the collapse of our civilisation will mean to them.
