It is a matter of definition;Who are our friends? and who are our enemies? The Liberal Left would say that the common man/woman is his/her own worst enemy and that his/her “betters”,i.e. academics,politicians and school teachers etc. should have the power to regulate his/her life and lead him/her to the promised land.
The latest phase in this assault is to politicize the armed forces.
Dr. Mervyn Bendle (“Hijacking Terrorism studies”,Quadrant,September,2008.) writes that “the study of terrorism [has] either been ignored in Australia or [has] been colonised by the radical post-modern Left. His article attacks the teaching of certain academics at the Australian Defence Force Academy,who take the view that “there is no difference between the terrorism of al Qaeda and the military action of nation states engaged in warfare under international law”.
There were a large numbers of letters in the November 2008 issue of Quadrant attacking Bendle for his comments but none addressed the issue of politicizing the Armed Forces. The Left Liberal rules of engagement makes it hard enough for an Australian soldier to survive on the battlefield,so the added impost of deciding whether he should be there anyway would make control of the army impossible.
The present attitude of Liberal pacifists is “I will not fight and you must not fight for your country”,and their attitude is shown by Western writers who attack Israel for daring to oppose the firing of rockets by Hamas from Gaza into Israel. The attitude of the writers would seem to be;the West deserves to be destroyed and has no moral right to fight back or protect itself. Our army is expected to do what it is told,not to decide political issues and subverting it’s will to fight by politicizing it,is completely unacceptable.
The Universities are now the recruiting grounds for al Qaeda,the new middle class world wide tends to the extreme left and with the apathy of the working classes in the developed world,the radical left is turning to Islam to help destroy Western civilization.
Like the Jews or not,if we do not support Israel’s right to defend itself then we lose our own right to survive.
