David Cameron,leader of the British Conservative Party,has a problem. “How do you fix a broken society?”(The Australian,14.7.08,p.15) “The continued decline of the traditional family,the rise of anti-social behaviour,the emergence of a settled underclass,the growth of social and economic inequality”,and I would add an increasing number of people who cannot accept the lack of morality and religion in modern Europe,all these are Tory concerns. “From Edmund Burke in the 18th century onwards,conservatives have argued that culture is the central political fact,that the small ways in which humans understand,help and relate to each other –far too complex for a government to adequately manage or control –are what make a country successful,stable and democratic.”
England after many years of socialist rule is none of these things now.
Reagan and Thatcher,both disciples of Friedrich Hayek and his ‘Road to Serfdom’,banished Nationalism and Government protection for industry and opened the way for the free movement of capital world wide and the birth of the global super company.
Hayek theorised,quite rightly,that central planning is a dysfunctional way to run an economy but we now know what the alternatives are.
Larry Summers,one of Bill Clinton’s economic aides,wrote recently;
“…….growth in the global economy encourages the development of stateless elites whose allegiance is to global economic success and their own prosperity rather than the interests of the nation where they are headquartered.”

The struggle for the survival of indigenous people,cultures and nation states against the behemoth of globalism (and it’s lackeys Consumerism and Political Correctness) is the struggle for the survival of all human,cultural,environmental and biological diversity. The victory of globalism would represent the transformation of the planet,the global environment,all living things,all human beings into economic abstractions,to be used,exploited and destroyed simply in pursuit of profits and the illusion of progress.”
The UN will always be corrupt and rule by the UN will give legitimacy to plundering by the rich.
Hayek,Thatcher and Reagan are wrong. The Nation State owning and exploiting all natural resources for the benefit of the people is the answer and sovereign funds the means to achieve this.
In our democracy we elect and trust citizens to run the country,raise taxes,go to war and make laws,but if Hayek,Reagan and Thatcher are to be believed,not to run the economy. Perhaps we should put the government out to tender among the World’s largest corporation and we all vote to choose the winner. We just might get somebody like Sol Trujillo!!!
