Chinese students,with the permission of the Chinese government,and no doubt it’s encouragement,demonstrated against the French retail chain Carrefour which has 109 large stores in China and called for a boycott.
The French ambassador to China told the China Daily newspaper “I deeply regret what happened during the torch relay in Paris”. He said France was “a very close friend of China”.
The Chinese government must have insulted France by not admitting her ambassador to make his apology to the government. China’s ultra-nationalist citizens seem to be demanding that the World Kowtow to China.
In the U.S. a crowd of up to 5,000 demonstrators gathered outside CNN’s offices in Hollywood calling for the sacking of TV commentator Jack Cafferty who called China’s products “Junk”and its leaders “a bunch of goons and thugs.”
The Chinese government went further. The perceived Western media bias over unrest in Tibet resulted in an attack by Chinese hackers using coordinated large numbers of computers to attack CNN.
Since 1998 a group of Chines hackers had orchestrated similar attacks on computers belonging to the governments of Indonesia,Japan,Taiwan and the U.S.
This is a dangerous game for any country reliant on exports. Our economists keep telling us that the wonderful Chinese economy is not reliant on the American market and would not be affected by an American downturn. In that case,if America elects a Democratic President he should impose severe quota limits on all Chinese products entering America and get the U.S. back into manufacturing. In addition he/she should stop all American patents being given to China or used in manufacturing and if ULTRA-NATIONALIST CHINA is thinking of war,Australia should cut down the supply of raw materials. We have one major problem. Rudd is pro-Chinese and he could let them buy up our mines and let in millions of Chinese migrants. Remember a Chinese is always a Chinese.
