A long article,on a terrorist plot to make a chemical attack against London,shows how deeply the U.K.’s domestic war on terror has divided the country.
Recently in Australia no lesser person than the Attorney-General,Robert McClelland,admitted in an interview with The Australian,January 26-27,2008,that in spite of Australia’s terror laws enjoying bi-partisan support in politics,there was widespread reluctance within the legal community to accept the legitimacy of some of the counter-terror laws.
If that is only their opinion well and good,but if their opinion affects their judgements as McClelland infers it has,then that is treason. No judge is above Parliament.
This problem has existed in England since the Irish troubles,without question members of the judiciary and parliament supported the I.R.A. and every time a case failed,there were many,the blame was laid against the police and M I 5 but in no instance was the conduct of the judge examined.
In Britains’“Liberal”society the barriers the police have to overcome to obtain a conviction get higher and higher. Rules of evidence,unless the criminal is caught “Red Handed”,leaves the judge with ample ability to exclude any evidence that is damning for numerous reasons.
The only answer is to vet all judges and re-appoint new judges whenever there is an election so that they are in sympathy with the government.
The article suggest that the accused were innocent of any crime and that the police and special branch failed to produce conclusive evidence.. 3 of the jurors went so far as to become friends with the accused and they were educated men. The problem is of course that many English people,particularly the inner city elite,are pacifists and left wing. They support the underdog,in this case Islam,against the establishment and the interest of the lower classes who they no longer represent.
