The few announcements by Rudd during the election suggest he is New Labor and his policies could be similar to those of Blair in England –New Labour followed the policies of Reagan and Thatcher who were both influenced by policies of the economic guru Hayek. In his book ‘The Road to Serfdom’,Hayek believed that free market forces were better at regulating a countries’economy for the good of commerce than any regulation put in its place by governments to stimulate economic growth.
Globalisation is the product of this thinking and the free movement of labour and capital the logical outcome.
In general the continent of Europe did not agree with the idea that industry and labour should not be protected and refused to follow Hayek but England and America did,as a result European commerce has stagnated whilst that of England and America has boomed but at the cost of unrestricted immigration.
How far will Rudd go down the path followed by Blair? Will he prevent the Unions putting the rights of workers first? Will he improve Australia’s standard of education by tariffs?,will he protect Australias uneconomic industry by tariffs?,and will he allow unrestricted migration into Australia?
