The British Labour party has never been very keen on the British armed forces. In the 30′s,before the second world war,the left wing of Labour and the small ‘l’liberals opposed rearmament and the allies nearly lost the second world war. Now the British army fighting in Afghanistan is believed to have a much higher casualty rate than admitted by the British government. It is believed that nearly half the front line soldiers have been wounded. (The Weekly Telegraph,No. 839).
Liam Fox,shadow defence secretary, said that the Americans reported nine wounded for ever fatality whereas the British reported three wounded for every dead British soldier.
Rules of engagement could account for this. A British sea patrol surrendered rather than fight off the coast of Iran. No doubt ordered not to hurt the “enemy”and getting on with the locals rather than fighting them seems to be the British policy in Iraq. Does that mean let them get close enough to shoot you dead?
No right minded man should join an army run by a Labour government. Joining the Russian army would be better.
