Diaspora (The dispersion of any people from their traditional homeland) is a word now being applied to the great exodus of the British people from England. The research by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) is the first significant attempt to put a figure on the number of British citizens who live overseas. The studies by the IPPR have been published on the BBC News website and indicate that at least 5.5 million British born people live abroad.
The British Labour government has been reluctant over the years to record immigration and emigration statistics for political reasons and as a result government statistics could be misleading. The IPPR and Migration Watch UK have also compiled statistics but how reliable these figures are is difficult to say. What is clear however is that there is a massive inflow and outflow of people into and out of Britain?
The IPPR found that 5.5 million expat Britons live overseas. They also say some 67,500 more Britons have left the UK every year than have returned over a 40 year period. That comes to 2.7 million not 5.5 million.
Until now,tentative government estimates of expats has ranged from 4.5 to 14 million,a very wide spread.
Sir Andrew Green,the spokesman for Migration Watch UK who has called on the government to cut immigration to the same rate as emigration,said that immigrants only began to outnumber emigrants in the mid 1980’s and since 1997 their numbers had increased sharply. Trebled in fact.
He said,“We now face by far the largest wave of immigration since 1066.” Net foreign immigration is at 300,000 a year and is now three times net British emigration. Sir Andrew also said that government figures forecast immigration accounting for 83 percent of population and 31 percent of household formations. Immigration is now adding the equivalent of the entire population of Birmingham every 5 years. He estimated that British emigration was roughly 100,000 a year.
The British Foreign Office has funded the IPPR’s research and Minister Lord Triesman said that up to 14 million Britons live overseas for at least part of the year.
Why do people go?
Clearly people don’t go somewhere unless they really have a good reason. Of all the people the BBC spoke to,most say that they are seizing opportunities that may never have come their way. The contrary view is that people go because they think that the UK has gone to the dogs.
The question nobody asked was what part globalisation and the post-industrial economy played in their decision to leave;most of the migrants are young and highly skilled,the government estimated that 4 in 10 of those leaving in 2004 were in managerial or professional occupations.
In a post-industrial society,that is one without heavy industry,there is only work for the non-productive city elite,in law,the arts,medicine,dentistry or accounting. Science and engineering graduates must leave the country to find work and so must tradesmen who would normally work in large factories. Even light industries are going offshore and agriculture,although efficient,is also declining.
Globalisation will destroy Western nations as we know them. How can a great city like London exist as an administrative centre for a small country like England? Without work the best of the English must emigrate and I think that fact is unpalatable to most of the investigators.
Whatever may be said about the rule of the English landed gentry,it must be admitted that they had a vital interest in the prosperity of the Nation. The people who took over after the Second World War were Left-wing theorists not only in England,but world wide and Globalisation,the product of their social engineering ideas,is effectively destroying the first world. Socialism thrives on chaos and if the Netherlands is anything to go by,licence for the individual to do what he wants,as long as it is politically correct,is paramount.
The multicultural heaven created by New Labour in England will lack only one ingredient;the English,they will have gone.
The 21st century will be the century of fanatical Civil War. The desire of all groups to dominate is built into our genes and multiculturalism is the devils brew.
