Why did France and the Netherlands say “NO” to the proposed European Constitution?

Almost all of the peoples of Europe support the European Union as a trading bloc, but were not too keen on giving up “National” rights in areas such as migration, human rights, law enforcement, labour relations, and the social services!

Germany and France see the new constitution as a political tool to unite the countries of Europe into a bloc large enough to counter balance the U.S.A. and China and in which the Nation States in the E.U. would give up National rights to a strong E.U. parliament and bureaucracy independent of the former Nation States.

The people of France and the Netherlands were more concerned with the flood of cheap labour from the new and poor states from Eastern Europe and later the Balkans taking their jobs and massive investment in the industries of these poorer states at the cost of Industry in Western Europe.

Some of the writers on the subject even admitted that France and the Netherlands were sick and tired of the Muslim migrants that had flooded their countries and failed to integrate. Multiculturalism has failed them and they did not want another 76 million Muslims from Turkey entering the E.U.
