The Australian defense analysts are loath to admit,for political reasons,that the only real threat to Australia is from China and like most other commentators portray China as a ‘rising democracy without Imperialistic traits’. Nothing could be further from the truth. History shows that China has always been an imperial power only limited by its martial ability and an education system that put the arts before science.
Ming fleets prowled South East Asia demanding tribute and a Chinese is more nationalistic than any other race. Chinese born people are Chinese all their lives where ever they live. To them China was and is the centre of the World. Money is their whole life and pursuit of it their main interest. China is and was run by ruthless men who thought nothing of causing the deaths in millions of their own people during the “great leap forward” and “Red Guard revolution”,“Social responsibility” is probably not a word in the Chinese language.
Howard has already shown signs he is under China’s influence. Downer said that we may not back America over Taiwan and Howard supports the E.U. selling American Defense technology to China.

Against a Chinese attack neither would keep us in the field for more than a day. The only effective deterrent against a Chinese attack is a fleet of atomic submarines of the Hunter Killer-type or armed with cruise missiles with atomic war heads and the cheapest way to get these is to allow American bases on our soil and support openly the American Alliance. ‘Chinese Howard’ cannot have if both ways,we are allies of America or China,but not both;our resources are too valuable to China for us to remain neutral. If America retreats from Asia every country in the region,except perhaps India,will be a province of China,and support of India against China may be the only option that we have.
